There are some changed coming down Foxboro Ave. I believe that the team has alot left in it but we need a culture shift. I would start by removing the following pieces from the team.

A Thomas LB
Burgess LB
Shawn springs CB
L . Maroney
Matt Light ( Got to old too quick )
Nick Kazur RT

and Moss.

I think some need to go because of age and ability and some need to go for team unity.

Love to here your responses..

I was surprised this season to hear first Brady and then Wilfork talk about the team quitting. That is not the Patriots. This team obviously has some cancer that must be cut out. I suspect A. Thomas and R. Moss. Release Thomas and take what you can get for Moss right now!

Maroney has had his time to make an impact. I don't know why Belichick has so much patience in Maroney when Sammy is outplaying him every season. I would love for the Patriots to have an every-down back... and Maroney is not it.

Nick Kaczur is a just a big load. I was surprised to see how out of shape he is. I'm fine keeping him as a backup though.

Shawn Springs is ok to have on the roster. I say name Springs the starter for next year and let Wilhite, Wheatley and Butler battle to supplant him. They should definitely keep Bodden though.

Burgess is a waste.

Matt Light is a good player, but he is on the last year of his contract. I bet Belichick could get some value for him, which would help bring in some youth.

Trading Moss, Light, and Maroney would bring some valuable picks to inject some youth into the team.

My wants for the offseason:
dominant DE/OLB pass rusher opposite Tully
ball hawking free safety (I would like it to be Chung)
run stuffing LB
two reliable outside receivers so Welker can work underneath
OC who can tweak the offense to fit the talent on the field

My guess is that there won't be very many blockbuster deals happening, due to the uncertainty following the uncapped year this coming season. I'm guessing most teams are going to be doing some one-year fixes to get ready for next season but nothing long term. Most of what I've seen reported is that there won't be football in 2011, barring some sort of miraculous bargaining.

That being said I agree with most of what you guys are saying. Thomas might as well have been out the door already. Maroney is just too inconsistent, and Light definitely lost...something. Not sure if it's speed, strength, or what, but he's less effective for sure.

I'm not opposed to keeping Moss around for one more season before the uncapped year. Even with the off year he had, If nothing else, he was a decoy for Welker, and teams typically used their better cornerbacks on him, so even if he catches zero passes and makes zero blocks, just his presence can be a benefit. So i'm okay with him coming back for 2010, but I wouldn't do anything long term for him past next season.
